Bottle Dig
WINTER TIME DIGGIN IN ATLANTA
Well, some of the "old timers" have been digging again in Atlanta this late Winter 1998 even though the Arthritis had set in with many of us. It has been almost eight years since I have done any serious digging and my age is showing with my lack of stamina. In early February a dump site was discovered through research of old maps that proved very productive for Wayne Gray, Frank Langston, Dave Swetmon, Don Mills and Bob Basford.

The era of the bottles that were dug appears to be from the late 1890’s to around 1912 just by the types and method of manufacture.

Here is a partial list of some of the better bottles that were found:

Everybody was pleased with what was dug and you should have seen Frank Langston’s excitement until we found a whole Teal Green pharmacy bottle after finding only pieces for two weeks.

Some of what was dug that did not stay in personal collections will be for sale at the 1998 S.A.B.C. Bottle Show along with the stories of what good times along with the aches and pains that were had by all who participated. Please note that this dump site is now closed.......
Jacobs Bichloride Tablets
Jacobs Bed Bug Killer
Not mentioned were all of the average other type of embossed bottles that you find in a dump but they were found also. The site produced the ever prevalent marbles, doll parts, kitchen china, crockery jugs and even a good clay pipe with a man’s face on one side.
