N. E. Cough Bitters

Mr. Fischer has since entered largely into the manufacture of this cordial, which he has christened N. E. Cough Bitters, and which he now sells so successfully and extensively that he can hardly satisfy the demand. He claims that the bitters cure coughs, colds, hoarseness and all lung diseases, no matter what their nature maybe. The lung diseases above alluded to, to which Mr. Fischer was subject and which his medical discovery so fortunately cured had reduced him to 128 pounds, while now he tilts the scale at 185 pounds. The price of a bottle of his bitters is only 25 cents.
J. A. Fischer Dealer in Groceries. Tobacco, Cigars & Patent Medicines,
# 264 Decatur St. Atlanta (1881)
Perhaps there is no business affecting man-kind so directly and so deeply as the grocery business. The community may, therefore, well congratulate themselves when they can procure their supplies from a man so painstaking, so reliable, and with all, so accommodating as Mr. A. Fischer is conceded to be by all who have been so fortunate as to deal with him. It is no wonder, therefore, that his business is growing daily and that it greatly exceeds his opening transactions, which date from the spring of 1881.

Bitters Bottles by Carlyn Ring and W.C. (Bill) Ham.
His store measures 50 x 20 feet, and is filled to overflowing with the choicest goods, which Mr. Fischer delivers to his customers promptly and without fail. He is a native of Georgia and was born in the year 1857: but although now in the prime of life, Mr. Fischer has passed through the valley of death, and according to his own statement evaded the man with the scythe and the hour glass only by the virtues of a cordial of his own invention, which he drank and thereby delayed the journey into the unknown land whence no one ever returneth.
